I believe in opera to be a vehicle for radical change in the arts community. By its very nature, opera is one of the most collaborative art forms there is—connecting instrumentalists, vocalists, artists of all mediums, and audience members. So why is it one of the most elitist and inaccessible art forms in existence today?

When the world at large thrives on white supremacist, patriarchal, and capitalist systems; so then do arts communities. We, as artists and patrons of the arts, have a responsibility to collectively dismantle these systems.

I am a dedicated artist and I am not able or willing to be complicit with the status quo in the performing arts and opera world.

My mission as an opera singer is two fold:

1. Use performance as a tool for social change;

2. Use my voice to center and amplify the voices of those who are often disregarded.
